Synopsis. Join us on Messina Island! At the end of a long, exhausting war, Don Pedro and his soldiers arrive at Signior Leonato’s home for a summer of fun. Amongst Don Pedro’s fleet are Claudio, who immediately falls in love with Leonato’s daughter Hero, and Benedick, who is determined to remain a lifelong bachelor— despite coming face to face with his former flame, Leonato’s fiery niece Beatrice. As the soldiers settle in, the matchmaking schemes begin. And yet, though all may be fair in love and war, all is not easy. Don Pedro’s disgraced brother Don John and his friend Conrade do everything in their power to make life harder for the merrymakers on Messina. Deception, jealousy, and mistrust disrupt the joyful reunions and newfound loves, and each character is faced with a choice— whether to trust their eyes, or their hearts.
